Newcastle based company, Holistic Industries (HI), have been chosen as the Australian representative for Integrated Defence and Security Solutions (IDSS) and are proud to announce themselves as the exclusive distributor of their Detect 1000 cabin baggage CT scanner
The Australian Government has mandated that airports have cabin baggage screening technology at security checkpoints upgraded from x-ray to CT technology, in response to the failed terrorist attempt in Sydney in 2017.
The IDSS Detect 1000 cabin baggage CT scanner produces high resolution 3D images, as opposed to the current 2D images being produce by X-ray scanners, which will provide a rich visual inspection of bag contents. It is currently the most advanced technology of all scanners in the market
“This upgrade in technology will improve security outcomes and passenger experiences all at the same time,” Holistic Industries Managing Director, Ben Dewson said.
“Very soon removing laptops for security screening will be a thing if the past”.
The detection ability is down to finer than 1mm cubed resolution and the bag contents are automatically screened for threats using advanced algorithms.
Laptops and liquids are able to be left in bags for screening, which produces a significant improvement in passenger experience by de-stressing the screening process, whilst simultaneously improving the efficiency of the screening process.
It will see benefits for both passengers and airport staff;
Passengers: Have less stress; more convenient; faster screening
Airports: Increased detections/security outcomes; increased efficiency in PAX screening areas/lanes; faster screening means more PAX spend more time in their retail section
The machine is currently being trialled at Melbourne’s International Terminal 2, with the new technology also on trial and operational in other locations internationally.
The product is ready to be rolled out to the Australian market and Holistic Industries have begun submitting tenders, with Newcastle Airport on this list. Holistic Industries are currently looking at other trial locations throughout Australia after Melbourne.
In addition to their scanner solution, Holistic Industries are an airport pax screening lane solution business, forming strategic partnerships with other national and international companies to provide consultative advice and design on lane layouts, including automatic tray return systems, as well as local service and maintenance for all major airports through a national network of technicians.
Holistic Industries is a Newcastle based company and their head office will remain in Newcastle whilst servicing the Australian market.
