Daracon Group Backs Medical Research with New HMRI Partnership

Daracon Group has announced its new platinum sponsor partnership with the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) Corporate Giving Program, reinforcing their commitment to supporting initiatives that make a lasting difference in the lives of people across the Hunter region.

HMRI is Australia’s largest regional medical research institute, tackling the most pressing health issues affecting people across the Hunter New England region. With a vision to “discover local, cure global,” HMRI’s work delivers scalable health solutions that improve lives both in the local community and around the world.

This refreshed partnership between HMRI and Daracon is a continuation of some great work together. In recent years, Daracon has provided specified funding to support the research of Associate Professor Dr Myles Young. Throughout the three-year funding agreement, Daracon participated in Dr Young’s SHED-IT weight loss program, which later became known as Workplace POWER. It was the first structured, group-wide health promotion initiative that Daracon Group ran over a four-year period. The success of this program became the catalyst for what has now become the Daracon Wellness offering for team members.

“We saw firsthand how some of these treatable health challenges impacted Daracon team members, which led us to connect with HMRI and their SHED-IT program team,” said Belinda Boon, Daracon Group Health and Wellbeing Manager.

“What started as one initiative has grown into a dedicated, evolving space within our business focused on proactive health and wellbeing, and it is only fitting to continue that journey with our platinum sponsorship of HMRI,” she said.

Todd Williams, HMRI’s Chief Research Partnerships Officer, said the partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Daracon for their ongoing support. Partnerships like this ensure research makes it out of the lab and into the hands of the people who need it most, delivering impactful solutions to real-world health challenges. Together, we’re taking healthy further and making a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of our communities,” said Todd.

Daracon’s sponsorship with HMRI aligns with their broader vision of giving back to the community through initiatives that contribute to long-term social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Over the years, Daracon has supported a range of community-focused programs and services.

“HMRI’s work is incredibly impactful for people across the Hunter, and we’re proud to support an organisation whose research is so vital in shaping a better future for our region and beyond,” said Adam Kelly, Daracon Group Director Business Development.

As Daracon enters this next chapter with HMRI as a platinum partner, the focus remains firmly on creating lasting, positive change for the people of the Hunter New England region. By supporting research that addresses real-world health challenges, Daracon continues to invest in the wellbeing of its workforce and the wider community.
