Businesses invited to support students

Local businesses will have the opportunity to support students to achieve their education and career goals by becoming a Friend of the Hunter TAFE Foundation.

The launch of the Friends of the Foundation donation program will enable businesses and individuals to support students experiencing financial or personal hardship, whilst studying at Hunter TAFE campuses throughout the Hunter and Central Coast communities.

Hunter TAFE Foundation President, Neville Sawyer AM said the Friends of the Foundation program allows individuals and businesses to donate to the Foundation through an annual tax deductible contribution, without having to commit to establishing a full scholarship.

“The Friends of the Foundation will help to transform the lives of young people through education. The donations will assist to relieve the financial burden of study and provide valuable encouragement to support students to successfully complete and further their education,” Neville said.

“Friends of the Foundation contributions will allow the Foundation to present Encouragement Awards, Study Grants and Pathways Scholarships to local TAFE students in need of support to overcome financial and/or personal hardship.”

“Education is one of the single most valuable tools for young people. By offering more scholarships, the Friends of the Foundation can assist students to become engaged citizens who will go on to make valuable contributions to the Hunter and Central Coast communities in which they live.”

“The Hunter TAFE Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation working with Hunter business, education and community leaders committed to supporting education and training at Hunter TAFE by helping students achieve their goals.”

Established in 2000, the Foundation provides financial support to Hunter TAFE students who are experiencing either personal or financial hardship to assist them in completing their studies. In the 2016 financial year, the Hunter TAFE Foundation has presented more than $140,000 in awards, scholarships and grants to students studying at Hunter TAFE.
