The Newcastle team at Australian Business Lawyers & Advisors (ABLA) has been named Workplace Relations and Employment Team of the Year at the annual Australian Law Awards for the second year in a row.
ABLA was also recognised as a finalist in the Commercial Team of the Year category.
Newcastle based Associate Director, Kyle Scott, said the Award highlights the expertise his team has in working with Hunter businesses to stay on top of a very complex workplace relations system.
The award also recognised the thought leadership provided by the team.
Kyle said ABLA’s workplace team provide support in the areas of employment law; industrial relations; work, health and safety; investigations; and human resource consulting.
He said businesses should always be looking to simplify their dealings with employees, contractors and directors.
“Our local team of experts work closely with the Hunter Business Chamber and local chambers to educate businesses on their legal obligations,” Kyle said.
“Organised through the Chamber, these events give businesses the critical information on legislation changes and what they need to do in order to remain compliant,” he said.
“Most events are free to attend, including monthly webcasts on employment law issues.”
He said being recognised by the award was a great reward for his dedicated and passionate team of local people.

The 19th annual Australian Law Awards is the pinnacle awards program for the nation’s legal profession, recognising the outstanding work being done across major legal practice areas, brilliance at the bar, legal in-house powerhouses, innovators and various firm-led pro bono programs.
A total of thirty-seven awards recognise individual, team and firm excellence in law, from the profession’s most senior ranks to its rising stars.
