Daracon Group Plant Operator, Tim Lamb, was selected to represent the Hunter at the Asia Pacific Regional Semi-Final of the Cat Global Operator Challenge in Japan on Wednesday 29 October and Thursday 30 October 2025, following his win at the New South Wales State Final hosted by WesTrac.
As the NSW Champion, Tim earned his place in recognition of his precision, speed and technical excellence operating Cat machinery, with the regional event offering a pathway to the world finals at ConExpo in Las Vegas in 2026.
Tim said it was an honour to compete at the international level and represent the region.
“I am truly honoured to represent Daracon Group, WesTrac, and all New South Wales operators at this level,” Tim said.
“I am so proud to be part of a company that invests in its operators and I’m excited to take on whatever Japan has to throw my way.”
The Cat Global Operator Challenge brought together leading machine operators from around the world to complete tasks testing equipment knowledge, operating precision and safety focus.
Daracon Group Plant and Transport Divisional Manager, Cory Hay said the business was proud of Tim’s achievement and recognised the commitment behind his selection.
“Tim’s dedication, technical ability and operational excellence is what set him apart in this competition,” Cory said.
“His success is a reflection of the ethos Daracon was founded on – we set out over 40 years ago to have the best people and the best equipment”.
WesTrac, the official Cat dealer for New South Wales and host of the State Final, delivered the event highlighting the Hunter and NSW operator talent.
“We were thrilled to see Tim take his skills to the international stage,” General Manager – Construction Industries at WesTrac, Jason Hall said.
“The Global Operator Challenge is about celebrating excellence in machine operation, and Tim’s performance is a testament to the strength of operators we see across NSW. We were cheering him on every step of the way,” Jason said.
