Hunter Region Business Awards open for 2025 entries

Celebrating a milestone 30th year, the Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards (HRBEA) are now open for submissions for 2025. The awards continue to spotlight the outstanding achievements, innovation, and community contributions of businesses throughout the Hunter.

Designed to celebrate excellence across a variety of industries, the awards feature categories for organisations of all sizes and sectors. As the longest-running business awards program in the region, they have become a benchmark for success, recognising businesses shaping the future of the Hunter.

Mai-Wel Group, winners of the Not-for-Profit of the Year Award in 2024, say they have experienced the far-reaching benefits of being recognised.  CEO, John Cleary, shared how the accolade validated their work and spurred them on to new achievements.

“Winning this award meant an incredible amount to Mai-Wel, our people, and the individuals we support. It validated the tireless work of our team and encouraged us to expand our services and programs,” John said.

Since their win, Mai-Wel has accomplished several exciting milestones, including opening a Mini-Woolies site, hosting an ‘All Ability Ball’ for the disability community, and launching an Employee Ambassador Network.

John encourages other Hunter businesses to get involved.

“Even if you’re a little unsure, have confidence in your organisation and submit your nomination. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the successes of our region and connect with peers,” he added.

Hunter Region Business Hub General Manager is Kerry Hallett says that each year is an opportunity to highlight the success of local businesses.

“The feedback we get is that it is a great opportunity to stop and take stock of what has been achieved,” Kerry said.

“Often our local business owners, managers and employees are busy delivering their products and services and may not have the chance to stop and reflect on their successes. The awards process is a great way to ensure you don’t forget to celebrate the wins.”
