Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation opens new funding grant round

Not-for-profit and charity organisations seeking funding for local projects have until 13 April 2021 to apply for a grant from Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation as part of its latest funding round.

Charitable Foundation Executive Officer, Graham Batten says the Foundation has again allocated three quarters of a million dollars in this funding round.

This grant will go towards supporting local community-based organisations across NSW who require funding for a new or existing project that aims to address key areas of disadvantage in the Hunter region.

“Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has a long history of supporting regional communities, with our grant program having invested, since 2003, more than $22-million in 270 organisations who are making a real impact to the lives of others,” Graham said.

“In this funding round, we will allocate $750,000 to make an impact in local communities across our footprint through helping charities to rewrite the future for people who are disadvantaged, marginalised, or isolated.”

Applying for a Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation funding grant is a simple process via an application portal accessed on their website, and a range of guidance materials is also available.

“We know there’s a lot of worthy programs looking for support, especially following the added challenges of the last year.”

“We’ve made it as simple as possible for organisations to apply via our website where they’ll also find a range of guidance materials as well as information on virtual funding grant support workshops we will hold in coming weeks.

“To date, we have provided over $9.3 million to a range of programs which deliver a local approach to addressing community issues in the Hunter region across our key focus areas of health, young people and social disadvantage.”

Twice a year the Charitable Foundation provides approximately $750,000 in funding for projects across regional New South Wales. In the past, the Charitable Foundation has funded:

  • $160,000 to Fighting Chance Australia for an innovative co-working space which provides opportunities and long-term change to people with a profound disability.
  • $60,000 to Mai-Wel Limited for their Sensational Spaces project which creates an innovative sensory stimulation space for people with a disability.
  • $48,400 to The Kaden Centre for their Home Exercise Oncology Platform that is delivering a web-based home exercise program for people affected by cancer and chronic health conditions.

“Each successful project is selected for its ability to make a meaningful difference for our communities’ most vulnerable people.”

Applications are open via the Charitable Foundation website and close on 13 April 2021.
