Newcastle to host Future of Leadership 2017

Newcastle continues to be a drawcard for big events with the Future of Leadership conference series coming to Merewether Surfhouse on 13 September.

This TED-style event attracts some of Australia’s highly recognised speakers and business minds and has drawn large crowds in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. All for a good cause, the speakers donate their time for free, with proceeds from the conference going towards helping at-risk children in Thailand through partner charity, Hands Across The Water.

Speaker and Founder of the charity, Peter Baines said he is blown away year after year with the tremendous support from the speakers and business community.

“This is win-win event that provides incredible value to delegates as well making a huge difference to the children and communities we support,” he said.

This year’s Newcastle event features local Richard Jones (OAM), Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service CEO; plus Head of Churchill Education and former Crown Prosecutor Tricia Velthuizen; Entrepreneur Rowdy Mclean;Marketing Specialist at Cure for Brain Cancer Rhiannon Tuntevski; and renowned leadership speaker Peter Baines.

Peter said that given the feedback and initial sales of the Newcastle event, he was optimistic it would become a regular inclusion in the annual series.

“There was so much interest from the Novocastrian community after last year’s event in Sydney, we just had to say yes,” Peter said.

Newcastle’s half day event will run from 8am-12pm.

Hands Across The Water is an Australian, New Zealand and Thai charity that gives at-risk Thai children and their communities a helping hand. Their projects are focused on providing long-term benefits to those affected.

Instead of relying on a traditional charity donation model, they create meaningful experiences, such as group bike rides and engagement programs in Thailand, that enrich the lives of both our fundraisers and the kids they are helping.
