Newcastle Business Club announces committee for 85th year

Well-known speaker and networking organisation, Newcastle Business Club, has announced its committee for 2018 – the 85th anniversary of the club.

Committee stalwart and Founder of The Marketing GP, Holly Martin was appointed as President, having served on the committee since 2005. She was the fifth female appointed to the role of President of Newcastle Business Club.

Holly said she is looking forward to a year that looks back on the history of the club, as well as introducing some new initiatives.

“Newcastle Business Club is one of the oldest business clubs in Australia and I am thrilled to be leading the organisation during its 85th year,” Holly said.

“I have always been proud of the legacy the club has created and continues to create, and I really want to make sure that some of our traditions continue into the foreseeable future.

“With that in mind, we have already started filming interviews with past Presidents, committee members and life members, to ensure we are preserving our history. So if someone has a connection to the club and hasn’t heard from us, we encourage them to get in touch!”

The executive includes returning committee members Bernie Garrett as Senior Vice President, Dene Kilpatrick as Treasurer (and Immediate Past President), Kris Leck as Sargent at Arms, as well as new face Lenore Miller, as Junior Vice President.

Returning to the committee are:

  • Alyssa Gill of Squib Communications
  • Sonya Hughes of Doyle Partners
  • Anna Bailey of Hall & Wilcox
  • Tiron Manning of Newcastle’s Buyers Agent

New committee members include:

  • Sam Matthews of CBA
  • Clare Ferguson of Monica Clare Recruitment
  • Steph Jordan of Dalton Partners Real Estate

“I think we have a really strong committee, we have already expressed some great ideas for the coming 12 months,” Holly said.

“Our main aim for 2018 is to sell out our events by ensuring we have top rate speakers on offer each and every month.”

Newcastle Business Club was established in 1933, from humble beginnings when five managers decided to get together on a weekly basis and discuss topics of importance to businesses in the region.
