Local professionals named finalists at the Accountants Daily Australian Accounting Awards

The Newcastle and Hunter region has again achieved a strong mention in the list of finalists for the 2018 Accountants Daily Australian Accounting Awards.

Chosen from hundreds of submissions from firms and businesses Australia-wide, representatives from a number of local accounting businesses have made it into the final round for the awards.

Prosperity Advisers, Cutcher & Neale, PKF and PLH Accountants were amongst the local businesses chosen as finalists.

Property Advisers has been selected as finalists for Firm of the Year, Partner of the Year (Megan Faraday-Bensley) and New Partner of the Year (Gary Dean).

Prosperity’s CEO, Allan McKeown, said he was delighted with the outcome of the nominations.

“Our shared vision to become the firm of the future, our amazing people and our community engagement activities have put us in a strong position for the finals, we should all be very proud of these achievements,” Allan said.

Cutcher & Neale has placed as finalist for SMSF Firm of the Year and Superannuation Specialist Accountant of the Year (Samuel Arnott).

Sam said he is humbled to be recognised by the top SMSF industry bodies as a leader in his field.

“To be nominated for Superannuation Specialist Accountant of the Year and for our firm to be nominated for SMSF Firm of the year is a testament to our team and all of our clients,” Sam said.

“Being Director of the Superannuation division at Cutcher & Neale is profoundly rewarding; it’s a great opportunity where I can provide sound advice on a rapidly changing industry.”

Maitland firm, PLH Accountants has also been recognised as finalists in the Property Specialist Accountant of the Year (Linda Holmes) and Rising Star of the Year (Laura Johnson) categories.

As well as individual awards for its staff, PKF has been named a finalist in the Innovator of the Year award.

Now in its fifth year, the Australian Accounting Awards recognises the exceptional contribution of individuals and accounting firms across 31 categories. Winners from the individual categories will automatically be shortlisted for the coveted Accountants Daily Excellence Award.

Accountants Daily Managing Editor, Katarina Taurian said she wished the finalists of this year’s Australian Accounting Awards congratulations.

“It’s great to see such a diverse mix of firms, from micro-businesses right up to nationwide networks,” Katarina said.

“We are also pleased to be recognising the broader role accountants play in their locales and in the lives of their clients. Accountants are the backbone of small business in Australia, and the community flow-on effect is enormous.”

The winners will be announced at a black-tie awards dinner on 1 June at the Hyatt Regency Sydney.
