At their recent inaugural Corporate Golf Day The Good Guys showed they have a ‘handy short game’, a vicious slice and they proved once again that they really are ‘good guys’ following their donation of proceeds from the day to a number of charities across the Hunter Region.
Following an intense event last November at Toronto Country Golf Club, The Good Guys East Maitland donated their share of funds raised to local Disability Service Provider, The Mai-Wel Group.
The three local Good Guys stores, East Maitland, Kotara and Warners Bay, hosted the day which saw 18 Hunter teams let their golfing skills shine at the four-person Ambrose event.
Brad Sangster of The Good Guys East Maitland said the day included a number of gimmick hole games to keep the competition even, which, coupled with the inclement weather, provided onlookers and teams with a rather challenging yet fun day of networking, golf and fundraising.
“It was a terrific day which resulted in funds being raised for some very worthwhile local community organisations, including The Mai-Wel Group,” Brad said.
“In that sense, everyone was a winner, because it was an opportunity to give back to those organisations that work tirelessly to support those in need in our community.”
The funds donated from The Good Guys’ Golf Day will be allocated to acquiring a Mai-Wel Domestic Skills House to provide people with a disability, who want to become more independent, a realistic experience of living away from home.
Pennie Kearney, CEO of The Mai-Wel Group was delighted to receive the influx of funds to the Domestic Skills House Project.
“Mai-Wel is pleased to have been one of those chosen charities,” Penny said. “Brad Sangster and the team at The Good Guys really are very ‘good guys’. ”
In fact, for many years we have been fortunate to have the support of The Good Guys and it is with their support that the dreams of our clients with a disability can become a reality”, Pennie said.
The Mai-Wel Group is one of the larger Disability Service Providers in the lower Hunter Region, providing services and programs to more than 900 clients across nine Local Government Areas.
