Environmental firm celebrates Newcastle office opening

NGH Environmental celebrated the opening of their new Hunter North Coast office on Wednesday, 20 July 2016 with members of the construction, environmental and infrastructure industries, gathering at the new premises in Union St, Newcastle West.

This office is the latest in a series of expansions by this company which now see it located in Sydney, Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Bega and Bathurst.

NGH Environmental has been at the forefront of advances in the renewable energy sector, providing environmental consulting services on major projects.

In the last six months, NGH Environmental has obtained approval for four solar farms in NSW – Gullen Range  Solar Farm 10MW, White Rock Solar Farm 20MW, Parkes Solar Farm 65MW and Griffiths Solar Farm 60MW.

The total approximate capital cost is around $300M and all four are being assessed under the ARENA.

Gullen Range Solar Farm has received funding from ARENA and will be Australia’s first Hybrid wind-solar farm. White Rock Solar Farm will also be a Hybrid wind-solar farm.

In the Hunter and north coast region NGH Environmental are providing ongoing REFs (Review of Environmental Factors) for the Farley Waste Water Treatment Works upgrades and other Hunter-based infrastructure projects in the roads, sewer and water sectors.

Founded in Bega in 1992 by the Managing Director, Nick Graham-Higgs, NGH Environmental is committed to engaging with and supporting regional communities. The company recognised the opportunities that a local presence in the Hunter Region would provide and in March 2015 opened the home-based, solo-person office in Newcastle.

That solo person was Fiona McKay, NGH Environmental’s Principal Environmental Planner and Manager, Hunter and North Coast. Fiona quickly established NGH Environmental’s presence in the region as a go-to firm for specialist environmental services. To support a growing client-base, the Hunter and North Coast office also needed to grow, employing an additional environmental consultant, Rebecca Harcus, in March 2016.

In a speech on the opening night Fiona noted the fantastic relationships she had developed with the people she had the good fortune to work with in the Hunter Region and attributed NGH Environmental’s success in the Hunter and North Coast to these relationships and the strong backing that comes from being a part of a business that is an industry leader in environmental consulting.
