The annual Bean Counters Ball is being held in November this year and will once again feature the Young Achievers Award.

Organisers are asking young accountants from the Hunter and Central Coast regions to nominated for the award and be recognised for their accomplishments.

The award was presented for the first time last year, with two winners awarded, Sophie Bestmann and Sharon Casagrande, with Sophie believing that enjoying what you do is a key to success.

“Find something that you love doing and are passionate about, that way you will naturally want to grow and learn and contribute positively to any situation you are in,” Sophie said.

Nominees must be 35 years and younger, starting their career and possess the passion and desire to succeed in the profession. It’s also a benefit to demonstrate a commitment to the community through dedicating their own time to volunteer or be part of a fundraising group.

The inaugural Bean Counters Ball was held in 2011 and was initiated to raise money to establish a scholarship fund, administered by Samaritans, to provide educational pathways for disadvantaged youth in our region. The scholarship is awarded in the areas of business, accounting or finance and Sarah McNab was the recipient of the first Bean Counters Scholarship.

The 2013 Bean Counters Ball will be held on Friday 8 November at City Hall.
