For over ten years PKF Newcastle, The Wests Group and Newcastle Herald have collaborated together to raise funds for the education and training of the Hunter’s breast care nurses.
In 2016, more than $22,000 was raised at PKFs Annual Breast Care Fundraiser Breakfast, highlighting the enormous heart and generosity of the Hunter community and the 50 individual businesses involved in the event.
Hosted by NBN Television’s Natasha Beyersdorf, the event saw 400 guests fill the Starlight Room at Wests New Lambton to hear about the inspiring work of the Hunter Nurse Education Group – Breast Cancer Care.
Former Woman’s Day Editor, blogger, Communications Manager for the Drinks Association and mum, Alana House, was the event’s guest speaker. Alana spoke of her personal and professional journey over the past ten years which has made her realise how much we sweat the small stuff compared to what other courageous individuals endure.
Steve Meyn, Managing Director of PKF Newcastle, said the overwhelming support towards breast care nurses and their invaluable role in the community was inspirational.
“With the most recent Breakfast contribution, the event has raised more than $194,000 over the past ten years,” Steve said.
“Every dollar raised stays in the Hunter to fund training and professional development for specialist breast care nurses. Funding provides access to expert training and development for local nurses and it is these real and tangible results that encourage PKF and our event partners to hold this event each year.”
