Successful businesswoman and Director/Recruitment Consultant at A.I.R Recruitment, Suzie Ninevski has been named the 2021 Wallsend Woman of the Year.
Wallsend state MP, Sonia Hornery declared Suzie as the deserving winner of the annual honour earlier this week.
The local member nominated Suzie for the award, based on her generosity to the Wallsend community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
When coronavirus first struck in 2020, and businesses started to close and job losses began to hit home, Suzie contacted Sonia’s office to offer assistance in any way she could.
This was despite her own business facing trying times as a result of the lockdown.
Suzie not only gave free financial and career advice to people impacted by COVID-related shutdowns, but she also provided thousands of dollars’ worth of vouchers to be distributed to those in need.
As result of her generosity and community spirit, she was recognised by the CEO of the peak recruitment industry body, the Recruitment, Consulting and Staffing Association, as the Australian & New Zealand RCSA COVID-19 Hero.
Suzie was also a national finalist in the RCSA Rising Star 2020 Award.
To cap it off, Sonia nominated her in the NSW Community Hero and NSW Woman of Excellence categories for the 2021 awards too.
“So many women in the Wallsend electorate are working hard to make a difference for our community and it’s never easy to choose who to nominate,” she said.
“Suzie is incredibly community-minded and loves her local area. Her human endeavour, leadership and resilience in the face of an unprecedented challenge meant she was a worthy winner of this award.
“Suzie’s generous support for the local community helped many families where both parents had lost their job during the COVID-19 lockdown. She also made sure that the vouchers could be used to support local businesses and local jobs.
“Suzie was rightly recognised on a national level, receiving the COVID-19 Community Hero Award from her peers. I congratulate her on adding the Wallsend Woman of the Year to her long list of achievements. I can think of no one more deserving of this award,” she concluded.
