Reimagine Regional Business to inspire and empower an evolving Singleton

Supporting local businesses to meet the challenges of the Singleton economy is the aim of the new event, Reimagine Regional Business.

The free, half-day event is due to be held at the Singleton Civic Centre on Wednesday 9 August 2023 by Singleton City Council and Business Singleton.

The event is designed to inspire and empower attendees with the tools and support they need to flourish in business now and into the future.

The keynote speaker of the event is one of Australia’s most prominent entrepreneurs, Naomi Simson, Founder of online experience retailer, RedBalloon and investor on Shark Tank Australia.

Vicki Brereton, Council’s Director of Organisation and Community Capacity, said the event would give local businesses the knowledge, tools, techniques and support they need to proactively plan for the future now.

“Reimagine Regional Business is a key initiative in a suite of economic programs, funded by the NSW Government Resources for Regions program,” Vicki said.

“Singleton businesses have weathered the highs and lows of an economy driven by mining for decades, but we know that change is knocking on our door.”

“With the Singleton bypass coming and as our economy evolves following the closure of energy facilities in Hunter Valley region, our local businesses are being advised to find ways to ‘transition’ or ‘diversify’ – but what does this really mean and how do they do this successfully?

“This event aims to inspire local operators through an incredible panel of entrepreneurs and business experts, including Naomi Simson, all of whom have achieved success in regional areas, as well as provide growth strategies and practical tips and techniques people can implement in their own businesses.

“I encourage all local entrepreneurs to sign up and come along to this fantastic free event.”

Business Singleton President Danny Eather said Reimagine Regional Business would help attendees find new ways to do business successfully in a regional area.

Reimagine Regional Business is designed to inspire local businesses to think beyond bricks and mortar, how they can embrace digital technology to go beyond their own backyard and potentially grow regionally, nationally and globally,” Danny said.

“After attending Reimagine Regional Business, businesses will be inspired to think about their businesses differently and walk away with practical ideas, tips and techniques to help grow and create new income streams.”

Business support providers will be set up at the Civic Centre on the day to provide an overview of the services they offer.

Following the event, Council will provide businesses with access to an online toolkit which will include supporting resources from the presentations and access to follow-up support from providers.
