Recognising local talent, here and nationally

Hunter-based leadership coach and Newcastle Herald columnist Shivani Gupta recently had her speaking talents recognised.

Shivani has been appointed to the board of National Speakers Association of Australia (NSAA).

Founded in 1987, NSAA represents the members of the professional speaking industry. NSAA is a founding member of the global speakers federation and is one of only two national associations which grants the international Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation. Shivani was given her international CSP in 2010.

Shivani said she is thrilled to have been asked to join the board of an association representing so many talented and high profile people.

“It is important to give back to the industry that you work in,” Shivani said.

Shivani is the founder and CEO of Passionate People Institute is also a Board member Heal For Life Foundation, the Hunter‚Äìbased centre that helps survivors of childhood abuse and trauma.

In related news, joining Shivani on the Heal For Life Fooundation Board is Newcastle based senior NSW Health executive Tracey McCosker.

Tracey is the Chief Executive of NSW Health Pathology, a newly formed organisation that provides public pathology services across NSW. Her career has spanned the accounting, private health and public health sectors. She joined the then Hunter Area Health Service in 1992 as the business manager of the local pathology service and worked her way up to the position of director of clinical operations. She is also a long serving board member of both Life Without Barriers and Hunter Medical Research Institute.

Tracey is the third addition to the HFL Board this year. Also joining her are former Newcastle Newspapers general manager Julie Ainsworth and Westpac Institutional Bank director of institutional property Stuart Brown.
