Moray & Agnew Newcastle has announced the promotion of four Lawyers to Seniors Associates across its insurance and commercial litigation groups.
The Newcastle office’s newest Senior Associates are Insurance Lawyers Kathryn Burrows, Lucy Munro and Helene Tretheway, and Commercial Disputes Lawyer Sarah Hammond.
Moray & Agnew’s Newcastle Managing Partner, Sean O’Sullivan said celebrating the success of four of their highly-skilled lawyers from their Newcastle team is a fantastic start to the new financial year.
“Congratulations to Helene, Kathryn, Lucy and Sarah on their well-earned promotion. It’s reflective of our firm’s commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry that all four of our Newcastle promotions are female,” Sean said.
“In fact, 80% of our office’s senior promotions over the past four years have been female.
“Around 100 talented people work in our Newcastle office (approximately 75% of whom are female) providing our clients with high quality insurance, commercial and employment legal advice.”
Kathryn has experience in insurance law and litigation in both NSW and WA, particularly the defence of compulsory third party and public liability matters on behalf of insurers. She advises on complex liability issues and the assessment of quantum. Kathryn has also been involved in litigation in the Local Courts and District Courts of NSW, the Supreme Court of NSW and the District Courts of WA, and has acted in connection with claims in NSW’s Claims Assessment and Resolution Service (CARS).
Sarah is a commercial lawyer with a diverse practice. She regularly acts on major disputes and debt recoveries. Sarah also advises on the negotiation and conclusion of high-risk and high-value commercial contracts and procurement projects, and provides intellectual property advice, particularly with respect to copyright and trade mark law.
Lucy advises on compulsory third party claims, including before the NSW District Court and the Claims Assessment Resolution Service (CARS). She works on settlements projects for insurer clients, preparing advices and conducting settlement negotiations.
Helene’s expertise is in public liability, personal injury, compulsory third party and workers compensation claims. She has wide-ranging experience in handling litigated and non-litigated matters and has managed a number of public liability claims involving various Australian insurance agencies and NSW and local government bodies.
The four team members commenced their new roles at the beginning of this month.
