Celebrating its 15th year, the Hunter Breast Care Breakfast is returning again in 2023 to raise funds for the Hunter Nurse Education Group.
Held on the 25 October 2023, this year, an atmosphere of collaboration thrives as local businesses are set to come together to sponsor the breakfast.
The Fundraiser was first launched as a result of the tragic loss of the wife of one of PKF’s partners after a battle with breast cancer.
To date, the fundraiser has raised more than $280,000 and has been commended in Parliament.
Communications Manager at PKF, Emma Hanson said that the event raises vital funds for the Hunter community.
“The funds raised at the Annual Breast Care Breakfast remain within the Hunter region and exclusively support the Hunter Nurse Education Group (HNEG),” Emma said.
“With the funds, the HNEG organises two full education days per year for nurses working with people living with breast cancer.
“These invaluable education days are extended free of charge and have been empirically shown to not only elevate knowledge and skills but also change behaviours and attitudes and improve clinical outcomes.
“The amount of knowledge required to take care of critical patients cannot be obtained simply through experience on a unit or at the bedside.”
This year’s silver sponsors for the 2023 Breast Care Breakfast include VInet, Sharp Office, HunterNet, Beam Bookkeeping, and Osborn Law.
Joining them will be bronze sponsors peoplefusion, Core Project Group, Skildare, and Westpac.
With an array of raffle prizes up for grabs and the opportunity to hear from the Hunter Breast Care nurses themselves, Emma said this event promises to be a great morning.
“It serves as a tribute to the courageous battles that have been fought, as well as those still being waged against breast cancer,” Emma said.
