Applications are open for Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation’s annual grassroots funding program, with more than $500,000 available for initiatives supporting health and social wellbeing across regional NSW. Grants of 25,000 to 50,000 dollars will support small-scale projects that can be delivered within 12 months and demonstrate lasting community impact.
The Foundation said its funding model had evolved to drive meaningful change and provide targeted support. NPCF spokesperson, Catherine Robson said communities and charities had called for more focused assistance to overcome current challenges.
“Our communities and their needs continued to evolve,” Catherine said.
“Making sure that our door stayed open for our communities and our partners was really important to us – now more than ever.”
The program introduced a simplified application process and updated areas of impact. Health projects that improve access to services, chronic disease outcomes and preventative healthcare were prioritised. Social wellbeing initiatives aimed at fostering safer communities, enhancing digital inclusion and addressing poverty were also in scope.
A standalone grant will be offered each year to an organisation that relies on volunteers, to build capacity through training, system enhancements or volunteer recruitment.
Applications opened on Wednesday, 1 October and closed at 11:59pm on Thursday, 31 October.
