Toronto apparel and embroidery firm Mono Unique Workwear and Uniforms has transitioned to new ownership, with local entrepreneurs Natalie and Paul Doolan acquiring the business in April 2026. Established over 30 years ago, the enterprise supplies custom workwear, school and corporate uniforms, trade attire, and branded promotional apparel to businesses, educational institutions, and sporting clubs across the Hunter region.
Both Natalie and Paul grew up in Lake Macquarie before working across marketing, creative and commercial sectors. Their acquisition strategy focuses on maintaining the firm’s established regional supply relationships while incorporating updated digital branding services and technical embroidery production capabilities.
Co-owner of Mono Unique Workwear, Natalie Doolan stated that acquiring an established local enterprise allows the pair to support small business supply chains across the LGA.
“When the opportunity came up to take on Mono Unique, it felt like the perfect combination of things that are important to us – community, creativity and the opportunity to build something meaningful for the future,” Natalie said.
“We love Lake Macquarie, and being able to return to the area where we grew up while working with and supporting other local businesses is something we are genuinely excited about. We have enormous respect for what has been built before us. There is a lot of trust, knowledge and experience behind a business that has been operating for more than 30 years. Our goal is to respect that foundation and maintain the quality and personal service customers know, while continuing to develop the business for the future. Learning about hooping, thread tension, backing and the different techniques involved has given me a whole new appreciation for the skill behind every garment we produce.”
Co-owner of Mono Unique Workwear, Paul Doolan added that commercial apparel plays a key role in brand consistency and team identity for regional enterprises.
“Every business has a story, and how you present your brand is an important part of that,” Paul said.
“What we love about branded apparel is that it goes beyond putting a logo on a shirt. The right workwear or uniform can help a business look professional and consistent, while also creating pride and a sense of belonging within a team.”
Mono Unique Workwear continues to operate from its Toronto premises, providing direct embroidery, apparel sourcing, and branding solutions to commercial clients throughout Lake Macquarie and the broader Hunter.
