The developers of one of Newcastle’s newest residential space believe that good design should cost no more.

Parque Newcastle East, located on the corner of Bolton and Church streets on the former site of the region’s first school and most recently the Justice offices, is the result of months of work by local family owned DJB Developments, in partnership with renowned local architect Kevin Snell.

DJB Developments’ directors, sister and brother team Bernadette Connolly and Daniel Connolly, grew up in Newcastle and were keen to create something that pays homage to the site and suits the aspirations of inner-city dwellers.

“The imminent departure of the law courts to Civic has created much speculation about how the old courthouse precinct would be used,” Bernadette said. “The site’s proximity to the CBD, the beaches and the Newcastle Foreshore make it a perfect location for luxury living.”

Daniel Connolly says good design should be key to all residential living spaces.

“Every one of the 27 apartments has been individually designed to best suit the position and the needs of the people who will live in them,” he said. “As a result we are very proud of what has been created.”

Once approved, construction is expected to begin during the first quarter of 2016 with a 12-month building schedule.

Architect Kevin Snell says the site provides the perfect balance of location and lifestyle for people wanting to downsize their home and upsize their lifestyle.

“The location of Parque is second to none and is complemented by architecture and designed spaces that are a sophisticated mix of heritage and style,” Kevin said.

“We have tried to picture the people who will live here and then design a place for them. Parque is modern and reserved.
