Co-founder and former CEO of Northern Coalfields Community Care Association (NCCCA), Ted Jackson has been awarded an Order of Australia as part of the Australia Day 2026 Honours in recognition of his service to aged welfare and the Cessnock community.
Ted Jackson played a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of NCCCA as a Co-founder in 1988. He helped build the community-based organisation to what it is today, with the foundations of compassion, integrity and a commitment to supporting older people to live with dignity, respect and independence still ringing true.
His leadership and vision laid the foundations for services that continue to support individuals, families and carers across the region today.
Along with leading as the CEO of NCCCA until 2022, Ted was CEO of Cessnock Hospital for six years, a former Accountant of 14 years, and supported the community by assisting with the establishment of the Cessnock District Health Benefits Fund.
Adding to the recognition of a deserved individual, he was recognised as the Cessnock Senior Citizen of the year in 2020.
For decades, Ted has been an advocate for older people in Cessnock and champions for services that strengthen, support and uplift the local community.
Current NCCCA Chief Executive Officer, Tony Bidstrup said the recognition was a “fitting tribute to Ted’s lifelong dedication to community care.”
NCCCA Board Chair, John Cleary said Ted’s contribution to aged care in Cessnock has been exceptional.
“His commitment has left a legacy that continues to benefit our community every day,” John said.
