Matthews Jewellers has a love of fine jewellery in the family, with owner Stephen Matthews now celebrating 40 years.
In 1957, Norman Matthews could not have foreseen the legacy he was creating when he launched his first jewellery store in Scone, rural New South Wales.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Stephen opened another Matthews Jewellers store in 1978. Building on the history of the family-run business, he continued to expand throughout the Hunter region.
Stephen now leads the business, which operates four stores in the Hunter Region – Charlestown, Kotara, Salamander Bay and Singleton. Today Stephen’s sons, Sam and Adam, are also involved in the business as it goes from strength to strength.
Stephen said he has enjoyed the opportunity to share the business with his family for generations.
“It’s been extremely enjoyable to have been able to share my career and love of fine jewellery first with my father and now with both of my sons,” Stephen said.
“We really pride ourselves on the fact that we are a family owned and operated business here in the Hunter Valley.
“It’s great to have my sons as part of the team – they are already making a great impact!”
Matthews Jewellers has a focus on diamonds, proud to showcase the largest range of diamond options in the region.
“Not only do we hand-select the Matthews Signature Diamond Collection, we are also proud to be the only retailer in the area offering the world’s most perfectly cut diamonds through the internationally recognised Hearts on Fire range. We also offer the ability to guarantee a completely Australian produced product through the Argyle range of white, pink, pink blush diamonds and the Dreamtime Argyle diamond range,” Stephen said.
“More recently we launched the ALTR created diamond range which is another huge leap forward in industry innovation. Where diamonds that are optically, chemically and physically identical to mined diamonds are grown above the ground instead of below.”
Matthews Jewellers will be holding a one-time only, 4-day sale, this Thursday through Sunday.
