Mark Kentwell wins Principal of the Year in Real Estate Business Awards

PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie’s Mark Kentwell has been named Australian Principal of the Year – Metropolitan in the nationally recognised Real Estate Business (REB) Awards for 2020.

Now in its seventh year, the awards celebrate the best of the best in real estate sales and property management.

The REB Awards are the most coveted for Australia’s agents, networks, innovators, leaders and property managers, as they extend across all franchise and independent brands.

Mark said he was thrilled to accept such a coveted award and be named alongside other incredible professionals in the industry.

“I am truly humbled to win Australian Principal of the Year – Metropolitan amongst such high calibre city-based entrants across all real estate brands. It’s great to see Newcastle now included among the capital cities in the hotly contended Metropolitan category,” Mark said.

He said that the award is a testament to his dedication and the role he plays in contributing to the local Australian Real Estate industry at PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

“Even though being part of industry evolution is a much stronger driver for me than receiving awards, being acknowledged by the industry that I love so much along the way is an honour,” he continued.

“It also broadcasts a strong message to agents and property managers who aspire to be part of the future of real estate that PRD is the team to be a part of. As long as their attitude, energy and values are on track, we can progress together.”

Mark said that despite the difficulties of the past year, the way real estate teams have navigated these challenges is a testament to the evolving business philosophy and strong team culture being implemented throughout the industry.

“2019 was a difficult year for the industry as a whole and yet we managed to navigate the business through substantial change whilst improving our internal process for our agents as well as customer service for our clients,” Mark said.

As Selling Principal, Mark personally sold 139 properties with a total value of almost $133 million with an average sale price of $956,092.

Before Newcastle was included in the Metropolitan category, Mark was crowned Australian Principal of the Year – Regional in 2014 and 2016, though this year was also nominated as a finalist in the highly contested Industry Thought Leader of the Year.

The accolades continue to roll in for Mark, who earlier this year was named one of Australia’s leading real estate agents in a national ranking of the industry’s top 100 performers across all brands.

He was ranked 26th in the country out of an estimated 40,000 agents in the Real Estate Business (REB) Top 100 agents list for 2020, and topped the list out of all Newcastle, Hunter and Port Stephens real estate agents.

“I particularly want to acknowledge all of our clients for continuing to choose PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie more than any other company in the region based on merit,” he said.

“I would also like to thank our leadership team, property managers and agents. In what was a challenging year, we were still able to thrive and realise business growth.”

The REB Awards were held via live broadcast on Thursday 25 June.
