Stuart & Dunn Office Choice’s fourth annual Charity Golf Day raised $40,000 for Reach Homeless Services Newcastle, surpassing a $30,000 fundraising target set to fund breakfast packs for a year. The event was held on Friday, 19 September, and organisers said the additional funds would enable Reach to provide emergency grocery packs across the Newcastle community.
The fundraiser has raised almost $200,000 across four years for charities supporting people in need across Newcastle and the Hunter region.
Head of Marketing and Sales Systems, Elle James said organisers were encouraged by community support for the event.
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our players, sponsors and supporters. Our community stepped up to make a real difference,” Elle said.
Owner, Benn Kelly said staff played a key role in the event’s success.
“None of this would have been possible without our staff. We were able to achieve milestones like this because the engine room kept running,” Benn said.
Stuart & Dunn Office Choice was recognised with the Office Choice Local Heroes award at this year’s OPIx Gala Dinner for ongoing support of local charities. Owner, Daniel Kelly said the business aimed to demonstrate the impact of collective action.
“Life is busy but never too busy to make a difference, and we truly believe this. Raise some funds, change people’s lives and have some fun on the way through — why wouldn’t you?” Daniel said.
“We showed what was possible when local people and businesses put their hands up. Nearly $200,000 raised, countless lives impacted and a new generation learning that kindness matters.”
