Tara O’Connell, of The Baby Diaries, has been nominated for the 2014 AusMumpreneur Awards.

The Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognise Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business, product development, services and innovation in businesses from Australia and New Zealand.

The awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Tara says she identified a niche business concept after the birth of her son in 2012.

“After the arrival of my second child, I expected to replace the pen and paper used to record my first baby’s daily activities 11 years earlier, with an App,” Tara said.

“Sleep routines, feeding times and quantities, nappy changes, introducing and monitoring solid food reactions, and keeping a log of milestones had been a job in itself back in 2001!”

“I thought surely there would already be an App that helps parents to keep track of all these essential daily habits and milestones.”

After much searching, Tara did find some Apps that did some of the things she needed, however nothing offered the full suite of activities. This is when she decided to develop an App herself.

After developing the concept and content Tara met with a colleague, Marty Adnum, who owns Out of the Square Media, and together they turned the concept into a reality.

Finalists will be selected by a public vote online, with voting opening Friday, 1 August 2014 and closing at midnight on Monday, 6 October 2014.

The winners of the 2014 AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at an Awards event in Melbourne in October 2014.
