Local business highlights the region’s health sector

An integrated approach to the delivery of health services to the people of the Hunter has also created a new platform that showcases the diversity of the sector.

ATUNE Health Centres recently launched a series of short videos, called Health Highlights, that showcase the work of medical professionals and the health sector in the region.

The series now includes about 12 episodes, and is the brainchild of CEO, Simon Ashley, who founded ATUNE Health Centres in 2006 from his home in Eleebana.

ATUNE now includes two centres employing more than 45 people in Belmont and Warners Bay. The centres provide more than 25,000 people with access to 13 different health professions.

Simon said that while the series provides insights into the range of health professionals and facilities in the region, the series was created as an educational tool for the community, bringing the names we often hear about into people’s living rooms.

“The Hunter is home to a highly professional group of medical and health practitioners. Some of these work directly with ATUNE Health Centres, but there are many more who work within the region that provide a diverse offering,” Simon said.

‘We created the videos as a way of helping people understand the health landscape and what therapies, services and facilities might be of use or interest to their families. Importantly we also try and focus on the stories behind the shingle on the door.”

The first series includes interviews with local organisations and professionals including HMRI, Genetics Fitness, CALM Lake Macquarie, JettProof, Dr Jai Kumar who provides a tour of one of Lingard Private Hospital’s theatres and leading Oncologist Dr Andre Van der Westhiuzen.

Since ATUNE Health Centres launched the first in the series in August this year, several videos have over 4.2K views with increased viewing across the organisation’s social media platforms on each episode release.

“We have a further ten episodes still to air and are looking at future series already with many of our clients, contacts and people within the wider community now suggesting people and places they want us to explore,” Simon said.
