One of Newcastle and the Hunter’s leading businesses will open its doors today with a new name.
The Greater Building Society changed its name on 1 May 2016 to Greater Bank.
CEO Scott Morgan was in at work on Sunday helping staff prepare for the changeover and watching new logos be installed at its Hamilton headquarters. Scott said the name change was about better reflecting the full range of banking products and services it offers. He said while the name is changing some things will stay the same.
He said Greater Bank is a different bank. It will also be Newcastle and the Hunter’s only locally headquartered bank.
“Greater Bank is expert, safe and strong like the big banks but we’re customer owned, not shareholder owned,” Scott said.
“Greater Bank will continue to put customers first with great rates and low fees, and support for the community,” he said.
“The new name is part of our constant evolution to remain a viable challenger to the big banks for local people.
“We’ve been investing in digital banking and systems to make banking more straightforward for customers.
“We hope the name change encourages more people to consider experiencing our award winning, Greater way of banking.”
A campaign promoting the newly named organisation and its new logo were developed by Greater Bank’s Hunter based agency Out of the Square Media (oots).
The Greater Charitable Foundation retains its name. The Foundation will continue to be funded from the bank’s profits to support charities that improve the lives of families and communities in Newcastle and the Hunter.
