The cream of the crop of Lake Mac businesses have been recognisedearlier this week as finalists for the 2020 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards.
A total of 44 finalists across 13 categories will come together tonight in a virtual celebration to recognise the work oflocal businesses and the incredible resilience shown by many in the wake of COVID-19.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said this year has no doubt been particularly tough for many businesses and the awards are one way to provide some positive recognition of local business achievements.
“We want to shine a light on local business success, despite COVID-19, and take this opportunity to encourage our community to get behind our local industries. It has been a very tough year for many business owners, and we’ve seen so much resilience from the community, it really has been an amazing effort,”Kay said.
“Traditionally, these awards recognisethe best of the best in Lake Macquarie and this year we want to take this one step further and champion Lake Macquarie businesses and their resolve, and recognise their essential contribution to our City.
“The quality of entries this year was outstanding again, with a range of entries received across many industries. From disability service providers to conveyancers, and from manufacturing to tourism operators, the list of finalists really demonstrates the depth of talent and innovation here in Lake Macquarie.”

Winners from the virtual awards ceremony at Belmont 16s will progress to the Hunter Business Awards later this year.
NBN newsreader and Journalist, Natasha Beyersdorf will MC the event, with Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser, Council’s CEO Morven Cameron and Dantia CEO, Peter Francis joining Natasha on stage aspart of the virtual telecast.
