A Lawyer at Hunter based firm Catherine Henry Lawyers has been recognised as a young gun shaping the growth and development of Australia’s legal sector.
Jessica Rea is the only Hunter-based finalist in the Wills and Estates category of the national Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards 2024.
The awards recognise lawyers who have demonstrated professional competency, a passion for law and a commitment to personal advancement.
The relationship law, elder law and wills and estate planning lawyer congratulated fellow finalists, saying it is an honour to be recognised alongside such talented professionals.
Jessica uses previous experience in commercial and estate law to assist her clients across regional NSW with tailored wills and estate plans that consider their personal and financial circumstances, family dynamics, and goals.
She also handles estate disputes and the establishment and management of trusts, prioritising the best interests of her clients at every stage of the process.
“I love being shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients, working through their case with them, rather than for them,” Jessica said.
“I try to make things clear and as simple as possible. Anticipating issues helps you to always be one step ahead.”
The firm’s Principal, Catherine Henry said being a finalist in these national awards is recognition of Jessica’s significant contribution to her profession, personal growth, and active engagement with her peers.
“Achieving 30 Under 30 status is a huge feather in the cap of any emerging legal professional,” Catherine said.
“This recognition follows Jessica being named Hunter Young Professionals’ Most Valuable Professional in September 2023.
“With a broader view of wealth and family dynamics, Jessica considers things outside of typical estate and succession planning. This understanding also benefits clients that she helps in our elder law practice in relation to matters such as capacity documents and elder abuse.
“Having talented lawyers such as Jessica ensures our firm provides the highest standard of legal representation and advice to people in the Hunter and other parts of regional NSW.”
Jessica’s client focussed approach was evident when she took on the role of lead author of the firm’s most recent community resource – Growing Older.
The free eBook takes people through the many ways that the law can help them to protect their interests and wishes so they may grow old gracefully, happily, financially strong and with dignity.
She is completing a Master of Applied Law, majoring in Wills and Estates, and has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Newcastle.
The award winners will be announced in Sydney on March 7.
