Growing Care win Hunter Water contract

Earlier in the year House With No Steps were awarded a $600,000 contract with Hunter Water to maintain the grounds at 19 wastewater treatment plants.

The three-year agreement will ensure employment for dozens of local people with a disability.

Growing Care, a division of House With No Steps, are specialists in maintaining major infrastructure sites such as motorways, freeways, airports and other commercial grounds. They provide quality horticultural and landscape management services to a wide range of customers

The contract will see the Growing Care team work on sites which stretch from Dora Creek in Lake Macquarie to Dungog in the Upper Hunter.

Minister for Finance and Service Andrew Constance said that he welcomed Hunter Water's decision to award HWNS the three-year contract.

“The financial challenges of running a not-for-profit business in the current economic climate is well known which makes this contract hugely significant to HWNS,” he said.‚Ä®‚Ä®

House with No Steps' Executive General Manager for Businesses Brett Lacey said their work crews are extremely competent.

“Our ground maintenance team consists of some of the hardest working employees I have ever worked with,” Brett said.

“It's great to see companies like Hunter Water focusing on people's abilities.”
