Gen Collective marks 15 years of strengthening local connections for like-minded business women

Gen Collective, in partnership with Hamilton Taggart, is celebrating a little extra this festive season.

The networking organisation is celebrating its 15th birthday in style with a cocktail party that invites everyone who has helped play a part in shaping their community over the last decade and a half.

Managing Director at Hamilton Taggart, Mel Hamilton is the person to thank for this organisation coming to light. She was the inaugural president of what was then named GenXWomen.

“In the early days of forming the network I never thought ahead so far as to one day we would be 15 years old. I remember vividly sitting at a Hunter Business Chamber breakfast when I had the first conversation about forming a new network for professional women in business,” Mel said.

“We held our first event on 1 May 2008 and over 60 women came to hear Lauren Miller Cilento speak and I’m so proud to see how the organisation and different committees over the year have grown this network to be bigger and better than ever,” she said.

Kate Bernardino, Gen Collective President, has been on the committee for more than six years with three of those as President.

“Gen Collective has such a special place in my heart. I started on the committee when I was only new in my career and I am so grateful for not only the opportunities it has provided me over the years, but the opportunities I have seen others gain from it,” Kate said.

“Our journey, spanning more than a decade, has been marked by inspiring and empowering individuals who have made a commitment to connecting with each other. This celebration really is a testament to the incredible women and men who have contributed to making Gen Collective what it is today,” she said.

The network is celebrating their event on Thursday 30 November at Carrington’s newest coffee shop, MOA & Co. For tickets, please visit their website.

The current committee is excited to see both familiar and new faces at the event and ensures first timers that they provide a comfortable atmosphere where people can connect, communicate and develop valuable relationships.

Gen Collective traverses all generations and says there is a multitude of benefits of people connecting and building relationships between all ages.

Opportunities in the space of being mentored by experience business women can come up as well as young guns offering innovation and enthusiasm.

The network would like to thank Hamilton Taggart for sponsoring the event, as without them, it wouldn’t be possible. As well as thanking all their current members for constantly attending events and making them a wonderful place to connect, learn and have fun.
