Locally owned and operated health food café, Raw Energy Newcastle at Honeysuckle, is making Wednesday’s a recharge day for frontline health and emergency workers, offering free coffee every week until the COVID-19 crisis is over.
Owner Greg Fenwick said that local frontline workers were doing such a fantastic job looking after the community and that this was his way of giving back and saying thank you.
“All of our frontline workers are throwing everything they have at this COVID-19 pandemic and we wanted to show them that their efforts are appreciated,” Greg said.
“Every Wednesday for the foreseeable future, we will be serving up free coffee for them. We know a lot of us a feeling a bit helpless and don’t know what to do to help. If a free cup of coffee every Wednesday helps ease their stress and make their week a bit easier then that’s a win,” he said.
Greg is urging others to also get involved, if they feel so inclined to help support the movement.
Through Raw Energy, locals can pay it forward by buying a coffee on behalf of frontline workers or by calling Raw Energy directly to donate.
Like many businesses, Raw Energy Newcastle has adapted a business as usual approach to focus on takeaway and delivery.
“It is such an uncertain time, we are doing what we can, while we can – if that means serving up a free cup of coffee to our frontline workers then that’s what we will do,” Greg said.
Frontline workers are encouraged to call ahead on Wednesdays to place their order for pickup.
