National consultancy firm, FiveSeven has been labelled one of Australia’s Coolest Companies in 2018.
Locally based in King Street and led by former Gunnedah local, Jane McConville (nee Scott), the business took out the Super Start Up Award at the 14th Cool Company Awards held in Melbourne in February.
With just under ten employees, FiveSeven sees itself less as an advisory firm and more of a problem-solving hub for business. FiveSeven services a growing number of clients based across Australia and internationally, collaborating on everything from difficult conversations to organisational restructures.
The businesses awarded a coveted Cool Company Award are those doing things differently to bring about positive change, and have included the likes of Thank You and Sidekicker. This year’s awards attracted nominations from over 700 organisations, making it one of the largest business award programs in Australia.
Cool Company Awards Founder, James Tuckerman said judging takes into account far more than mere business variables, such as revenue and wealth.
“The criteria are geared to consider other qualities, from the disruptive nature of the product or service to the culture of the organisation,” James said.
FiveSeven was the first service-based company to win the Start Up Award since the awards were first established.
FiveSeven Founder and Principal Consultant, Jane McConville accepted the award at the event held at Launchpad in Melbourne.
“It was a huge deal as a start up to be recognised in the Top 100 within a group of such amazing businesses and innovative ideas. To then win the Start Up Award has really driven home our commitment to breaking the mould as a consulting firm,” Jane said.
“FiveSeven was the idea born from a passion for finding simple ways to solve tricky business and people problems. Our approach enables our clients to broaden that skillset across their business, and embed a problem-solving mentality – fostering internal learning rather than external dependence.”
