The first start-up business to be accepted into the i2N Incubator @ DaSH has been announced and awarded to Indie Recruitment.
The i2N Incubator @ DaSH is a 6-month rolling incubator program, designed to support entrepreneurs and provide a platform for them to start, scale, or strengthen their early-stage businesses. The program was created through a partnership between DaSH CoWork and the University of Newcastle and enabled by the NSW Department of Industry.
As the first business to enter the program, Indie Recruitment will receive access to support and services to help grow the business, including mentoring, subsidised membership at DaSH CoWork, workshops and business development opportunities, networking opportunities and other benefits.
Jacqueline Garrett, CEO of Indie Recruitment, built the HR businesses on the mission of demolishing youth unemployment and educating the community on ‘how to get hired quickly’.
“We want regional students to have the same start to their career as those in larger cities and to reduce the gap between regional and city youth unemployment,” Jacqueline said.
“We are excited to be located at DaSH CoWork with so many other great local businesses and have access to an experienced business mentor that can assist us in building an innovative new form of recruitment and training for these groups.”
Community Manager of DaSH CoWork, Harry Balding, said he was looking forward to Indie Recruitment calling the co-working space home.
“Our i2N Incubator @ DaSH was set up to provide a platform for early-stage businesses to grow from; for Jacqueline, this equates to having a low-risk environment for trying new things, and attempting to innovate where there has been no real innovation for a long time,” Harry said.
“Having access to mentors and a professional environment will allow Jacqueline to leverage other people’s experience and expand her skillset as a solo founder. I hope that her six months here during this incubation period really adds value to her scale-up and innovation phase, and that her business grows at such a rate that we can’t provide the space she needs for all her new employees she’ll have to put on!”
