CPA Newcastle and Hunter Branch are hosting their annual keynote speaker breakfast next month with Australia’s only Red Bull Air Race pilot, Matt Hall.
Chair of the Newcastle and Hunter Branch, Chad Stead said you could be forgiven for assuming that Matt is an adrenaline junkie given the thrilling aerobatics he displays in the Red Bull Air Race; in fact he doesn’t thrive off adrenaline at all and wouldn’t call himself a risk taker.
“It is a common misconception that pilots are adrenaline junkies who thrive off near-misses and G forces,” Chad said. “Much like an accountant, a pilot makes calculations and completes analysis to ensure that risks are mitigated to an acceptable level and all required controls are in place to manage those remaining risks.”
Over a hot breakfast Matt Hall will share insights and tales from a life in aviation that includes evading missiles over Iraq, life in the Red Bull Air Race and countless near death experiences. He is well versed in risk management, the power of teamwork and the importance of preparing to succeed.
Chad Stead said the Branch was proud to showcase another local success story.
“Matt Hall is a born and bred Novocastrian who has achieved great success on the world stage, yet remains committed to supporting local events. It is a great fit for CPA and our members.”
This event is open to both members and non-members.
