Mai-Wel has announced that donations up to $10,000 received on 23 and 24 November via the Beyond Bank website, will be doubled thanks to Beyond Bank’s Double Donation Days campaign.
Mai-Wel is one of sixteen charities around Australia set to take part in a dollar-for-dollar fundraising campaign in partnership with Beyond Bank to help cope with the substantial financial impacts of COVID-19.
Mai-Wel CEO, Lynne Graham said they were overjoyed for Beyond Bank’s support, which allows them to continue providing their services to the community.
“We’re so thankful to Beyond Bank for inviting us to be part of their Double Donation Days fundraising campaign. Fundraising is such an important part of our organisation. Without the support of our donor community, we wouldn’t be able to deliver our premium services and facilities to our participants and job seekers,” Lynne said.
“Unfortunately, the impacts of COVID-19 has put a halt to Mai-Wel’s fundraising events and avenues in 2020 and 2021. The biggest hit has been the postponement of our major annual fundraiser, the Mai-Wel Gala Ball, which we have now rescheduled twice due to state-wide outbreaks of COVID-19.
“The opportunity to take part in Beyond Bank’s Double Donation days fundraising campaign will help us kickstart our donations once again. All funds raised will contribute to upgrading our facilities and services at our Cessnock site, Work Life Connect.
“We opened our Cessnock site in 2019 as a one-stop-shop for lifestyle, leisure and employment support services for people with disability and job seekers. We’re proud of the facility and look forward to putting funds raised with the support of Beyond Bank into filling the need for modern and innovative support services in the regional centre.”
Mai-Wel’s Double Donation fundraising days will be powered by the Beyond Bank Australia Foundation, the charitable arm of Beyond Bank, which works closely with not-for-profit organisations around the nation to ensure that they have the support they need to grow and prosper.
This is the second year for the successful fundraiser, which saw more than $278,000 going back into the local community in 2020.
Commencing on 23 November 2021, each charity, including Mai-Wel, will be given two days to encourage supporters to donate a tax-deductible amount that will then be matched by Beyond Bank.
General Manager Strategy, Brand & Community Development at Beyond Bank Australia, Peter Rutter said the financial burden of the COVID-19 pandemic was devastating and encouraged them to support local charities who were hit with the hardships of the pandemic.
“The ongoing pandemic has put countless people and households under financial stress – many of whom continue to seek assistance from charities,” Peter said.
“We are seeing that many of these charities are struggling to provide their usual services due to lack of fundraising events and volunteers.
“All of the charities involved provide real frontline support, assisting the sick and the vulnerable, those who need it most.
“Beyond Bank is proud to provide another way for community organisations to fundraise at this critical time to allow them to continue to provide these grassroots services,” he concluded.
Mai-Wel’s Double Donation fundraising days will kick off on Tuesday, 23 November and Beyond Bank will announce the final fundraising results after the campaign.
