Austube Mills staff donate awards

Like many organisations, locally-based Austube Mills annually recognise and reward their staff who perform exceptional work to uphold their two core business values – Safety and Customer.

One of the prizes employees receive is a cash reward, however in a generous gesture of support, award winners donate their prizes to charities.

Austube Mills General Manager, Richard Clement, says they have been giving winners the opportunity to donate to charities since the event's inception seven years ago.

“At Austube Mills we take our role as a national company seriously and where possible, we want to give something back to the communities in which we operate,” Richard said.

“Each day within our Core Values of Safety and Customer, our employees exemplify this business commitment, and each year we come together at the Core Value Awards to celebrate their achievements.”

“Our deserved winners are always more than happy to support the business' decision to make these financial contributions, because even at a time when the manufacturing industry has its own challenges, we still believe its important to honour our outward-facing social responsibility.”

From their Core Value Awards, held on Wednesday, 30 April 2014, they donated a combined amount of $5,500 to 11 charities. The 11 winners and their selected charities are:

Winner of the Core Value Awards' prestigious Wayne Parsons Award, and a Caves Beach local, Austube Mills Senior Reporting and Analysis Manager, Ian Harrison, says he is proud to work for a company that upholds its social responsibility.

“I've donated my $500 to Compassion Australia,” Ian said.

“My family supports children through this charity and we have seen the positive affect this charity has on helping release children from the poverty cycle, so I know this donation will be put to good use.”

Compassion Australia CEO, Tim Hanna, says he's encouraged by Austube Mills' generosity and socially-conscious thinking.

“Compassion Australia is grateful to Austube Mills. We really appreciate Ian's choice to support Compassion through this award,” Tim said.

“It will have a real impact in the lives of children living under the blight of poverty.”
