Applications now open for Maitland City Council’s Community Grants Program

Local community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for funding through Maitland City Council’s Biannual Community Grants Program, with applications now open until Friday 9 May 2025.

The program offers financial support for local initiatives that benefit the Maitland community, providing funding across two key streams:

Community Project Grants to support initiatives that foster sustainable communities and enhance the wellbeing of Maitland residents.

Community Celebrations Grants to assist with hosting events and activities that encourage participation, leadership and community connection.

Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold urged local organisations to apply and make the most of the opportunity. “This program provides a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to secure funding for projects and events that make a real difference in our community,” Mayor Penfold said.

“Whether it’s promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community connections or celebrating our culture and heritage, these grants help turn great ideas into reality.”

This round is the final opportunity to apply before Council transitions to SmartyGrants, a new online grant management system.

In addition to the Biannual Grants, Council’s year-round Community Grants Programs will continue to provide ongoing support for individuals and teams pursuing excellence in sports and creative arts. These grants are assessed five times per year, ensuring local talent can access funding when needed.

For more information and to apply, visit Maitland City Council’s website. Applications close on Friday 9 May 2025.

The Maitland Local Government Area (LGA) covers an area of 396km2 in the Lower Hunter region of New South Wales.

Maitland is the focus of a diversity of economic activities including agriculture, tourism, mining, manufacturing, transport and construction industries. Arguably Maitland’s greatest asset is its location on the rich alluvial flats of the Hunter and Paterson Rivers. It is one of the most highly productive areas in NSW and a service centre for a rich agricultural hinterland.
