Newcastle recruitment agency GWG Recruitment has restructured its corporate ownership, with Amanda MacGregor returning to the firm as co-owner and Executive Director alongside existing Director Julie Gearie. The transition follows the departure of co-founder James Grierson, who has stepped down from the business after co-founding the agency in 2011.
Amanda previously spent six years with GWG before advancing into broader executive search and talent acquisition roles across New South Wales. In 2025, she was named Executive Recruiter of the Year for NSW by industry platform Sourcr. Under the new joint-ownership structure, Amanda and Julie will direct executive, corporate, and technical recruitment operations across Newcastle, the Hunter, Sydney, the Central Coast, Mid North Coast and Northern Inland NSW.
Established in Newcastle 15 years ago, GWG specialises in regional corporate staffing, executive placements, and technical workforce strategy. The firm’s operational strategy will focus on expanding regional client partnerships, investing in internal consulting staff, and adopting recruitment technologies.
Co-Owner and Executive Director of GWG Recruitment, Amanda MacGregor stated that returning to the agency allows her to drive the firm’s regional expansion strategy.
