Customer-owned financial institution The Mutual Bank has officially opened its new retail branch at 93 Vincent Street, Cessnock. The opening marks an expansion of face-to-face over-the-counter banking services across the Lower Hunter at a time when major commercial banks continue to reduce regional physical branch footprints.

Operating in the Hunter region since 1888, the institution’s expansion into Cessnock responds to population growth driven by new residential developments, including Huntlee Estate. The local branch will serve retail customers, small businesses, and community organisations across the Hunter Valley region.

Ahead of the official opening, The Mutual Bank established formal local community sponsorships with regional service organisations, including Carrie’s Place, Cessnock Minor Rugby League, and the Hunter Region Business Hub.

Chief Executive Officer of The Mutual Bank, Mark Williams stated that maintaining over-the-counter banking services supports growing regional communities.
