A new $60 million Net Zero Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will soon be housed at Tighes Hill TAFE. This cutting-edge facility is set to play a key role in advancing the Hunter region’s transition into a leading renewables hub, driving innovation and sustainable manufacturing for the future.
Property Council Hunter and Central Coast Regional Director, Amy De Lore, said the initiative had widespread support across the region and would be instrumental in advancing the Hunter’s transition to a renewable’s hub.
“The growth of the renewables industry supports all sectors in the Hunter, including the property sector, and this investment will help us retain a strong, diverse, and prosperous regional economy,” Amy said.
“A rising tide lifts all ships, and this commitment promises to bring long-lasting benefits to businesses, workers, and communities across the Hunter.
“It will go a long way to support our industry’s efforts to reduce emissions and the drive towards a net zero built environment,” she said.
Amy also mentioned the Net Zero Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will equip the region’s workforce with the skills necessary to drive the emerging green economy while building on the Hunter’s proud manufacturing legacy.
“The Centre of Excellence will make sure we have the skills in our region to lead in this new economy and maintain the region’s proud history as a manufacturing stronghold,” Amy said.
“It has the potential directly to benefit the property sector by creating a pipeline of skilled workers who understand the unique demands of sustainable building and energy-efficient design.
“As we work towards a net zero built environment, having local expertise in advanced manufacturing and renewable energy will support the property industry’s commitment to sustainable development, reduce operational costs, and future-proof assets in the Hunter region,” she said.
