The annual Bean Counters Ball has announced a new committee for its 2023 Vegas-themed event, which is returning in May.
The event is a joint initiative between local members of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and CPA Australia, which has raised almost $250,000 for charities, since its launch in 2011.
The volunteer board was recently elected, with several new and returning Hunter-based professionals. They are focused on ensuring an increase in fundraising to help support the chosen charities, Samaritans and Hunter TAFE Foundation.
Gerhard Bierman from Terra Infrastructure was appointed Chairperson and Daniel Drayton from SV Partners as the Co-Chairperson for the 2022-2023 period.
Gerhard said they’re looking forward to holding the event again following an extremely successful return in 2022 after the pandemic.
“The return of the Bean Counters Ball in 2022 was extremely successful with over $35,000 raised for youth and education in the Hunter Region,” Gerhard said.
“We are already planning a bigger and better event in 2023, and we are hoping to raise more money for our chosen charities.”
Half of the funds raised at the annual Bean Counters Ball supports Samaritans Student Accommodation in Newcastle which provides a safe place for students to live while they are completing their education.
The other half of the funds are donated to the Hunter TAFE Foundation, providing scholarships supporting youth education in business, accounting, or finance.
“We are proud to again partner with Samaritans and the Hunter TAFE Foundation. Each year at the Ball we hear from adolescents who have been supported by the charities which continues to remind us of the opportunities the funding from the Ball provides each year,” Gerhard continued.
Alongside the Chair and Co-chair, the committee consists of 14 individuals from the local business community.
These members include; Sally Bates (Allen & Overy), Lana Black (Osborn Law), Rebecca Brown (Hunter Water, Eleanor Farquar (Wine Selectors), Emily Lane (Lambourne Partners), Jackie Marriott (PKF), Matthew Page (MACH Energy), Ashleigh Simpson (PKF), Christian Southward (McCloy Group), Gemma Williams (Lambourne Partners), Haley Tibbetts (Samaritans Representative) and Kate Taylor (Hunter TAFE Foundation Representative).
They are supported by event partners, The Marketing GP.
“The committee are dedicated to creating a memorable night of glitz, glamour, and some games to help make a difference in the community. We hope the event can raise more funds than ever before with the help of our generous guests and sponsors,” Gerhard concluded.
The 2023 Bean Counters Ball will be held on Saturday 27 May at the NEX. Guests will be treated to a night of Vegas-themed entertainment, gaming tables, and the Bean Counters Ball signature lucky dips and raffles to raise money for the cause.
