Winners of the 2015 NEWi Awards for Digital Creativity were announced earlier in the month, with a wide range of businesses recognised.
Run by The Lunaticks Society, the Awards celebrate the best digital innovation in online marketing, cloud computing, mobile application, and online content production in regional Australia.
The NEWi Awards are open to any regional business involved in designing, building, managing, maintaining, marketing or promoting a digital asset in Australia or overseas.
President of The Lunaticks Society, Gordon Whitehead said the results follow the rigorous and thorough judging process, which saw industry specialists critique almost 80 entries from across regional Australia.
“Congratulations to all of this year’s winners. Judging was thorough and rigorous and there emerged a number of very outstanding entries. The Award winners were top notch and fly the flag for regional digital innovators.”
Smart Sports Solutions, a second year startup based in East Maitland, won the NEWi Awards 2015 for Best Health Solution of the Year with their app called StatsOne.
StatsOne is a simple, yet comprehensive, app for mobile devices which enables parents, coaches or scouts to collect a player’s match statistics. The players then receive their scorecard on their phone or log into their online account to access in-depth feedback on their match performance with graphs and comparison to their teammates.
“It is a real game changer for youth soccer,” Pierre Malou, CEO of Smart Sports Solutions, said. “Finally the latest technology is brought to millions of players. StatsOne enables young players to record their journey to stardom as well as track, share and compare their performance with their peers on their smart phone.”
“Advanced analytics, big data and algorithms have become the norm for professional sports teams. They track their players’ performance, analyse the efficiency of team tactics and predict their opponents’ reactions. To do so they spend millions of dollars in statistics experts, new technologies and hardware.”
“This type of money is not available to youth and grassroots sports, leaving them out of the analytics revolution.”
StatsOne is entirely developed by the company, taping into local talent and young developers from the University of Newcastle. Both the IOS and Android versions of the app are free, as well as registration with the online platform.
“Our goal is to support youth, high school and grassroots sport, starting with soccer and make previously unnoticed players reach their full potential,” Pierre continued.
“StatsOne is for everyone. Competitive kids who want to improve and get noticed by scouts, kids who want to share their game stats with family and friends. Coaches who want to get in-depth information about how their players perform.”
