New co-working space launches in Lake Macquarie

The Lake Macquarie Economic Development Company Limited, Dantia, is partnering with Beyond Bank and BigAir to deliver a new and innovative way to do business – the Dantia Smart Hub (DaSH) in Charlestown.

DaSH will be the newest and first large-scale co-working space in the Hunter region.

Centrally located in Charlestown, the commercial heart of Lake Macquarie, DaSH will be a home to agile and innovative business growth, providing its members with access to a host of professional facilities, including 200Mbps broadband through BigAir dedicated fixed wireless infrastructure, and a collaborative community of forward-thinking businesses and entrepreneurs.

Launching on Monday night at a special community engagement event, the event was an opportunity for individuals and businesses to contribute to the development of DaSH and learn about the future of work. It also featured guest speaker Nick Bowditch, the only person in Asia-Pacific to have worked for both Twitter and Facebook.

Dantia acting CEO, Derrek Lush, said that business is changing and around the globe and there are currently more than 5,000 similar co-working spaces, all seizing opportunities created by rapid improvements in technology and connectivity.

“DaSH is about equipping businesses to be more agile and innovative, creating opportunities for growth,” Derrek said.

Beyond Bank, through their community entrepreneurs program, have been proactive in supporting positive economic outcomes and employment for the local community. Their founding partnership with DaSH has been pivotal in providing a sustainable platform for a project that will deliver annual economic benefits and jobs growth to Lake Macquarie City and the region.

Recent case studies and Regional Development Australia research show that comparable co-working spaces deliver annual economic benefits of $8.8 million, and between 12-35 new jobs annually.
