Timberlina presents Knockers & Moles to support local charities

Two local charities have once again joined forces to raise vital funds and awareness for two of the community’s most common cancers.

The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF) and Hunter Melanoma Foundation (HMF) came together in February of 2021 for the first-ever Knockers & Moles event, raising a total of $24,000 for the two charities.

Local Queen of Drag, Timberlina will be hosting the 2022 Knockers & Moles event, taking place on 5 February 2022 at Peter Drayton’s Ironbark Brewhouse in the Hunter Valley.

Aside from the glitz and glamour, this event starts the conversation around breast cancer and melanoma, which are the most common cancers in the Hunter community.

HBCF General Manager, Ellie Wells said both foundations were blown away with the support they received from the first Knockers & Moles event.

“The community really got behind our first Knockers and Moles event. The event sold out within a few days, and we had a number of local businesses supporting us every step of the way,” Ellie said.

“HBCF is proud to have continued to work alongside another incredible organisation to raise as much awareness about breast cancer and melanoma within the local community as possible. I think one thing COVID-19 has taught us is that we are better together than apart,” Ellie said.

HMF Executive Officer, Claudia Tolhurst said that Knockers & Moles was just the beginning of the collaboration between the two charities, who continue to come together to assist each other’s goals and services to benefit the local community.

“This event helped launch this collaboration so that we can help even more people in our community whilst encouraging other charities to do the same,” Claudia said.

Tickets are now on sale.
