Rollingball Productions recognised nationally

Local screen production company, Rollingball Productions has won two national awards and placed as a finalist twice at the 2016 Australian Video Producers Association (AVPA) Awards.

The awards were announced 30 March 2017, and the Cooks Hill business took out the Occupational Health and Safety category for a collaboration with Ravensworth Operations, and their Catching Dragonflies trailer won the Short Film (under 30mins) category.

The Ravensworth Operations film highlights the importance of safety while working at the site using personal stories from present and past workers.

Catching Dragonflies is a documentary that is still in production. The trailer is a sneak peak of the documentary that will bring to light the status of Indigenous Australian ear health, which is amongst the poorest in the world.

Producer for Rollingball Productions, April Howard, said the team were proud to represent the Hunter on a national, creative stage.

“We’re really proud of the work we’ve been producing over the past three years, and now we’ve been rewarded with two national awards. It’s great to be able to produce original and creative works in a truly regional centre and support the Hunter’s creative industries,” April said.

Local business, Good Eye Dear also had a significant outcome from the awards, winning the TV Commercial under $10,000, Corporate Video between $10,000-$20,000 and being named runner up in a number of award categories.

The Australian Video Producers Association is a non-profit organisation encouraging and promoting excellence in all areas of video.

The awards are designed to encourage and promote excellence in all areas of video production.
