Newcastle-based fabrication and maintenance business, RIG Installations, has announced it has been acquired by leading Australian engineering group, Monadelphous Group Limited.
Monadelphous provides construction, maintenance and industrial services to the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors across Australia and has been operating in the Hunter Valley, in particular in the coal industry, since 2000.
RIG Installations Manager, Geoff Edman said the acquisition was an exciting step forward for the business and would provide its customers with access to a range of new services and equipment.
“We’ll be able to leverage off Monadelphous’ extensive experience, specialist knowledge and significant range of equipment,” Geoff said.
“We’ll also gain access to new services, including rope access and scaffolding, specialist coatings, marine maintenance, crane hire and heavy lift, as well as electrical and instrumentation services – an exciting prospect for both our customers and our team.
“Importantly, we don’t expect things to change from a day-to-day point of view. We’ll have the same team managing our operations in Newcastle, providing the same high-level of service our customers have come to expect.
“It’s been a challenging two years for our team with the passing of our former Managing Director and Owner, Gerard Beiboer, who suffered a fatal heart attack while flying his airplane in 2015. We’ve all worked really hard to keep the business running, as usual, providing the same quality maintenance and installation services to our customers, which I am very thankful for.
Gerard’s wife, Donna Beiboer, who in the face of profound loss and tragedy stepped up as managing director of RIG Installations after his passing, said she was delighted that Gerard’s legacy would continue.
“After the massive setback of losing Gerard, I’m so proud that RIG Installations has overcome adversity and shown such resilience that a leading engineering group of the calibre of Monodelphous wants to acquire its skills, expertise, experience and talent,” Donna said.
“Due to the dedication, hard work and determination of the wonderful RIG Installation team, the company has not only endured, but flourished. I am confident that going forward RIG staff and customers will continue to be provided with the very best of opportunities.”
Monadelphous NSW Area Manager, Greg Walker said he believed Monadelphous would benefit greatly from the talent and experience of RIG Installations and looked forward to building strong relationships with the company’s team and customers over years to come.
Monadelphous has facilities in Singleton, Muswellbrook and Gunnedah and employs more than 5,000people across Australia and internationally.
