Following on with their rapid growth, local firm performHR has announced the appointment of Karen Ansen as Employee Relations Specialist.

performHR Client Director, Jane McConville said they were looking forward to the positive impact Karen could make.

“Karen is a fabulous and exciting addition to our team, with both her extensive experience and the vibrancy she brings,” Jane said. “There are great things ahead for our ER team and the support we can now provide our local, national and international clients”

Operating largely in the Workplace Law space, Karen specialises in both Employee and Industrial Relations. She brings a wealth of expertise to the team, with a focus in common litigation activities, negotiation, legal writing and contracts, oral advocacy, counselling and mediation. Karen prides herself on her excellent track record in resolving unfair dismissal cases, and her sound approach to minimising risk during this process.

Karen says she is thrilled to join the team at performHR.

Having worked in Commonwealth and State Government roles for most of her early career, Karen stepped into legal roles in the early 2000’s. During this time, she worked with the Department of Fair Trading before moving to the position of Investigator with the Department of Industrial Relations, NSW.

In 2009 she was promoted to an Advisory Role where she provided advice and support to the Fair Work Ombudsman on the implementation of the Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards.

After completing her Law Degree at the University of New England in November 2011, Karen accepted a temporary role with Leading Aged Services, before moving to the position of Employee Relations Advisor with Aged & Community Service’s (ACS) in 2013.

In her three years working with ACS, Karen achievements include a guest speaking engagement at the ACSA National conference in 2013 on the impact of the workforce supplement policy regime; and her involvement in both the 2014 ACS Template Enterprise Agreement negotiations and Modern Award Review 2013 -2016.

Karen was admitted to the Supreme Court as a practicing Solicitor in December 2013 and held an active role in headline cases.
